first hinted in December 1999, Resident Evil 4 underwent a long development period in which four proposed game versions had been discarded. originally developed for the PlayStation 2, the first attempt was directed by Hideki Kamiya after producer Shinji Mikami asked him tomade a new entry in the Resident Evil series.however, it was decided to begin construction again. the game is intended to be an exclusive GameCube as part of Capcom Five, but the PlayStation 2 version was announced before the game was released for GameCube. the Evil 4 resident was later released for Microsoft Windows, Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and downsized versions for iOS, Zeebo, and Android (exclusively for Samsung devices outside of Japan).
